Our Dental Team
At Birchwood Dental Practice our dentists, dental nurses, dental hygienists and reception staff will always aim to provide a high standard of care and service for patients.
The members of our dental team are:

Our dentists head up the team and are responsible for coordinating your care as well as providing urgent and complex treatment.

Our Dental Therapists provide most of our routine restorative care such as fillings, also treating children including extractions. They also look after the periodontal (gum) health of our patients.
All of our dental nurses are fully qualified or on an approved training course. The nursing team are responsible for assisting in your dental care, decontamination of the instruments as well as taking on reception duties.
Regulation of the Dental Team
All Dental Professionals are registered with and regulated by the General Dental Council.
There are nine principles registered dental professionals must keep to at all times.
As a GDC registrant you must:
- Put patients’ interests first
- Communicate effectively with patients
- Obtain valid consent
- Maintain and protect patients’ information
- Have a clear and effective complaints procedure
- Work with colleagues in a way that is in patients’ best interests
- Maintain, develop and work within your professional knowledge and skills
- Raise concerns if patients are at risk
- Make sure your personal behaviour maintains patients’ confidence in you and the dental profession
